Assistant Wrestling Coach

Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School located in Southwest Ranches, Florida (Broward County) is looking to hire a passionate, qualified and experienced Assistant Wrestling Coach for the 2026-27 season. This position is dedicated in empowering young athletes through sports and looks forward to making a positive impact on the lives of student-athletes. This candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and tenets of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule: Part-time with flexible hours, primarily after school and on weekends during the wrestling season (typically November to February).
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with all aspects of the wrestling program, including practices, competitions, academic progress, study hall, and team events.
  • Develop and implement effective training plans and strategies to help athletes improve their wrestling skills, physical fitness, and mental toughness.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to student-athletes to help them reach their full potential both on and off the mat.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that celebrates diversity, promotes confidence, and empowers young athletes to excel in the sport of wrestling.
  • Collaborate with the head coach and other members of the coaching staff to ensure alignment with the overall goals and objectives of the wrestling program.
Qualifications:
  • Previous coaching experience in wrestling, preferably at the high school level or above.
  • Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, strategies, and rules.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
  • Dedication to promoting gender equality and providing opportunities for athletes to thrive in the sport of wrestling.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with athletes, parents, school staff, and community members.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
