Job description

Archery Counselor

Archery Counselor – Summer 2026
Camp Chateaugay – Adirondack Mountains, Upstate New York

Dates: June 13 – August 12, 2026
Compensation: $2,500 + we pay for any travel expenses and includes all, room & board & meals

Camp Chateaugay is a premier co-ed sleepaway camp for children ages 7–17, located in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of Upstate New York. We pride ourselves on creating a supportive, energetic, and inspiring environment where campers grow, build confidence, and create lifelong memories.

This is a dynamic role combining archery instruction with full cabin counselor responsibilities, offering the opportunity to make a lasting impact on campers’ lives in a fun, supportive environment.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safe, engaging archery sessions for campers of all skill levels 
  • Teach proper shooting techniques and enforce all safety procedures 
  • Deliver safety orientations (range rules, commands, equipment use) 
  • Set up, inspect, and maintain archery equipment daily 
  • Manage the archery range and ensure proper supervision at all times 
  • Assistant other specialists in other sports if the ratios are over 1:8 in such as soccer, basketball, baseball, fitness, martial arts, volleyball, yoga, lacrosse, gaga ball (no prior knowledge needed for these extra activities)

Cabin Counselor Role

  • Live in a bunk with 6–12 campers alongside co-counselors 
  • Support daily routines including wake-ups, meals, activities, and bedtime 
  • Maintain a clean, organized cabin and ensure camper well-being 
  • Provide supervision at all times, including rest hours and overnight 
  • Build meaningful relationships, mentor campers, and handle minor issues 
  • Help foster independence, confidence, and a strong sense of community 
  • Collaborate with staff to create a fun, inclusive, and energetic camp environment 
  • Encourage teamwork, participation, and camp spirit 
  • Participate in special events, evening activities, and cabin trips/campouts each session 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $2,500+ (based on experience)
