The Role

The In-Vehicle Software Purchasing role is responsible for managing the sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationships related to embedded and connected vehicle software. This position ensures that software solutions meet cost, quality, and timing requirements while aligning with the company's technology roadmap and compliance standards. The role collaborates closely with engineering, legal, cybersecurity, and program management teams to support product development and lifecycle management.

What You'll Do

  • Understand the Automotive, Software, IT industry and the long-term direction GM software is headed.
  • Ability to work effectively cross functionally, both internally and externally and build relationships
  • Determine viable suppliers for technology requirements
  • Develop and manage supplier under the guidance of quality, service, technology, and price negotiations. This includes sound understanding of deadlines, required lead times, supplier contracts and application types.
  • Active participation with key stakeholders, including engineering, IT, business stakeholder, legal, and security.
  • Manage annual renewal cadence and deadlines.
  • Adheres to corporate purchasing and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Negotiate price, terms, and other items to complete full contract package.
  • Utilize Global Purchasing and Supply Chain sourcing process to manage Sourcing packages.
  • Develop benchmarking for each sourcing package.
  • Experience handling commercial issues with suppliers and assessing supplier performance
  • Proven competence in negotiating skills
  • Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • 5+ years relevant work experience in purchasing, supply chain, program/product management, engineering, logistics or product development (any internship or co-op experience will not be considered)
  • Data Judgement- Ability to objectively analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions
  • Informative Communication- Ability to communicate relevant information to the appropriate audience both effectively and timely
  • Relationship Management- Develops and maintains constructive, cooperative working relationships
  • Negotiation- engage in collaborative discussions to reach meaningful agreements
  • Analytical Thinking- Consider various factors in decision making to determine solutions and their impacts
  • Results Focus- Take charge without prompting, seize opportunities and deliver on time
  • Workload Management- Manage multiple tasks with quality and prioritize by critical needs
  • SAP experience or ability to learn purchasing systems
  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time domestically + Internationally

Compensation:

  • The salary range for this role is $124,200 - $165,300.The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential:An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
