Position: Schola Cantorum Member

Status: Part time, non-exempt

Location: Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Reports to: Dr. Mario Pearson

Summary

The Cathedral Schola is a professional choir of singers who perform as quartets and as two 8-member ensembles. They combine for special events and sing a vast repertoire and treasury of sacred choral music literature. Their primary role is to lead the congregation's sung prayer and share the Church's rich heritage of chants and Polyphonic music and motets to illuminate the sacred liturgy to inspire and uplift those who come to worship.

Essential Duties:

Use musical abilities to collaborate with and assist the ensemble through a chamber music structure.

Access all music and rehearsal materials (pdf, midi files, demo recordings).

Rehearse and prepare all music assigned.

Attend and perform at all events.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in vocal performance.

High level sight reading skills.

Vocal timbre suited to the performance of early polyphonic music.

  • Intermediate skill level accessing music and practice material on an online platform.
  • Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
