Job Description
The AbbVie Neuroscience Discovery Research Translational Sciences Imaging group is advancing an innovative positron emission tomography (PET) research program focused on the discovery and development of novel PET radioligands, their application in drug discovery and development, and their use in understanding normal and disease-related biology in animal models and in humans. The group identifies and advances key imaging initiatives within AbbVie and with external collaborators, while working closely across functions including medicinal chemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, and clinical development.
Purpose:
The Molecular Imaging Scientist will lead and support preclinical PET imaging studies. This role offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art imaging instrumentation, and novel PET radioligands, animal models, and therapeutic approaches. The position requires strong collaboration across imaging and research functions, with a high degree of matrix partnership.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate multiple preclinical imaging studies.
• Communicate key findings to team members and stakeholders, and contribute to study reports and publications.
• Provide experimental support for preclinical PET imaging studies in rodents and large animals, including radiotracer/compound formulation and administration, image acquisition, and blood collection.
• Process and handle blood samples for radiometabolite analysis using HPLC and related methods.
• Operate imaging systems, including the Mediso MultiscanTM LFER 150 PET/CT and Mediso nanoScan® PET/CT.
• Analyze imaging data using specialized software tools.
• Develop, implement, and maintain high-quality study protocols.
• Ensure imaging equipment is properly maintained in close collaboration with vendor support teams.
Qualifications
  • PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline with typically 4 years of experience; or Master's degree or equivalent with typically up to 10 years of experience; or Bachelor's degree or equivalent with typically 12 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in PET imaging in animal models.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines in multidisciplinary teams while delivering high-quality data.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed international journals.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build productive partnerships.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill
