Overview

St Jude Childrenโ€™s Research Hospitalโ€™s newly launched Department of Imaging Sciences is seeking Faculty Member applicants at the Assistant, Associate and Full level. Chaired by Elizabeth M. C. Hillman PhD, this new department will build a community of technology innovators at St Jude, whose research focuses on the development and application of novel methods for imaging and quantitative measurement.

Applicants should be passionate about pushing the bounds of imaging and applying their techniques to accelerate biomedical research or directly improve clinical care. St Jude Childrenโ€™s Research Hospital is dedicated to the mission of preventing or curing catastrophic childhood disorders. Our worldโ€‘class faculty members have deep expertise in oncology, developmental neurobiology, immunology, structural biology, cell and molecular biology, infectious diseases, hostโ€‘microbe interactions, chemical biology and therapeutics, computational biology and more. New institutional programs focusing on dataโ€‘science and dataโ€‘driven discovery combine with extensive shared facilities for optical and electron microscopy, clinical imaging, sequencing and spatialโ€‘omics to make St Jude the kind of environment where rapid progress can be made in a highly collegial, collaborative and motivating environment.

The Department of Imaging Sciences is interested in broad areas of imaging, including multiโ€‘omics technologies, structural and functional microscopy, multiโ€‘modal and mesoโ€‘scale imaging, clinical imaging innovations ranging from histopathology to wholeโ€‘body imaging, tracer / indicator development, wearables and quantification of behavior. Methods that incorporate quantitative analysis and computational modeling are also of strong interest. Applicants should be highly collaborative and committed to pursuing impactful applications of their approaches, while also driving their widespread adoption. To facilitate technology transfer, the Department of Imaging Sciences is establishing shared resources including an Advanced Instrumentation and Fabrication Core, a Biomedical Testing and Sample Preparation Support core, a Data Analytics Support core, and a Productization and Dissemination Core that will provide handsโ€‘on support to guide technologies towards having their highest impact both locally and globally.

The Department of Imaging Sciences plans to recruit 10 faculty (at all levels) over the next 5 years. Successful faculty candidates will be expected to establish an independent lab at St Jude and will be provided with lab space, startโ€‘up funds, salary coverage and ongoing institutional support to build their worldโ€‘class program. Employee support and benefits are highly competitive, and St. Jude is consistently highly ranked in Fortune magazineโ€™s list of 100 best places to work. Come join us!

Candidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD degree, postdoctoral experience, evidence of highโ€‘quality, impactful prior contributions to the imaging sciences field, including peerโ€‘reviewed publications and / or patents.

Applicants should be committed to mentoring and be strongly motivated to develop a transformative collaborative research program at St Jude.
