Position Summary
The Research Assistant I supports preclinical in vivo imaging studies within a multidisciplinary Bioimaging group focused on drug discovery and development. This role involves executing PET/SPECT/CT, MRI, and other multimodal imaging studies in laboratory animal models, contributing directly to R&D programs through high-quality experimental work, imaging data analysis, and scientific documentation.
The position operates in a fast-paced research environment requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively under close supervision while managing multiple priorities.
Key
ResponsibilitiesPreclinical Imaging & Experimental Execution
Perform in vivo imaging studies using PET, SPECT, CT, echoMRI, and MRI modalities
Support additional imaging technologies including optical and ultrasound imaging
Execute imaging protocols with high precision and consistency in accordance with study design
Assist in implementation of new imaging methodologies and experimental procedures
Laboratory Animal Handling & Compliance
Handle laboratory rodents in accordance with institutional animal care guidelines
Support animal preparation and procedural requirements for imaging studies
Ensure compliance with all animal welfare and regulatory standards
Safely handle radioactive materials following radiation safety protocols
Data Analysis & Scientific Reporting
Process and analyze imaging data using specialized software tools
Perform quantitative PET/SPECT/CT analysis, including automated and AI-supported methods
Maintain organized and accurate experimental data repositories
Use GraphPad Prism, Excel, and PowerPoint for data analysis, visualization, and reporting
Contribute to study reports, presentations, and scientific documentation
Laboratory Operations & Support
Maintain imaging equipment and laboratory inventory
Troubleshoot technical issues under supervisory guidance
Follow SOPs and ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures
Participate in lab organization and operational support activities
Collaboration & Scientific Development
Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
Communicate experimental progress clearly to supervisors and team members
Actively seek guidance when needed to ensure scientific accuracy
Participate in training and development in preclinical imaging sciences
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Imaging Sciences, Physics, or related field + 1 year of relevant experience
OR Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline
Strong foundation in biological sciences and/or imaging principles
Experience working in academic or biopharmaceutical research environments
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment
Strong attention to detail in experimental execution and documentation
Ability to work under supervision while maintaining accuracy and consistency
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience with in vivo imaging modalities (PET, SPECT, CT, MRI)
Experience handling laboratory animals (rodents) in research settings
Understanding of animal anatomy and physiology
Experience working with radioactive materials and radiation safety protocols
Proficiency with GraphPad Prism and Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with imaging analysis software (PMOD, VivoQuant, AMIDE, etc.)
Understanding of preclinical imaging workflows from acquisition to analysis

Pay Details: $30.00 to $34.00 per hour
