About Tri Imaging Solutions
Tri Imaging Solutions has merged with DirectMed Imaging, uniting two trusted names in the medical imaging industry under one organization. Tri Imaging Solutions is our go-forward brand, so the Tri Imaging Solutions name and logo now represent our combined company. You may have found this opening on DirectMed Imaging's careers page or LinkedIn - it is the same team, and your application goes to the same place.
Founded in 2013 and headquartered just north of Nashville in Madison, TN, Tri Imaging Solutions helps healthcare providers keep their diagnostic imaging systems running - supplying quality-tested replacement parts, equipment, and nationwide service across CT, MRI, mammography, X-ray, and more. We are also home to an industry-leading training center on a mission to empower the engineer, and we are ISO 13485:2016 certified.
About the Role
Tri-Imaging is seeking an experienced Imaging Service Engineer III (ISE III) to serve as a senior technical expert responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, and optimization of advanced diagnostic imaging systems.
This position works independently with minimal supervision and provides advanced technical expertise for high-complexity imaging equipment, including CT, MRI, PET/CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, Radiography, Ultrasound, and other specialized imaging modalities based on individual certifications and training.
The ISE III serves as the primary technical escalation resource for complex service issues, leads equipment installations and major repair projects, mentor's junior engineers, and partners with customers, manufacturers, and leadership to maximize equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and patient safety.
Support is provided both on-site and remotely to hospitals and healthcare facilities within an assigned territory.
What You'll Do
Customer Service & Communication
- Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, clinical departments, imaging leadership, and internal service personnel on complex equipment issues.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with radiologists, imaging directors, biomedical departments, physicians, vendors, manufacturers, and executive customer leadership.
- Lead customer communications during major service events, equipment outages, upgrades, and project implementations.
- Provide technical recommendations regarding equipment performance, repair versus replacement decisions, lifecycle planning, and capital equipment strategies.
- Professionally manage high-impact customer situations while ensuring timely communication and exceptional customer satisfaction.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, integrity, and commitment to the company's mission and values.
- Independently install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, optimize, and perform preventive maintenance on highly complex diagnostic imaging systems.
- Perform advanced diagnostics utilizing OEM software, engineering documentation, service manuals, specialized electronic test equipment, and network diagnostic tools.
- Lead major component replacements, system alignments, detector replacements, tube replacements, gantry repairs, software recoveries, and complex mechanical or electrical repairs within certified modalities.
- Perform acceptance testing, quality assurance testing, performance verification, and system calibrations in accordance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze recurring equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement long-term corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
- Coordinate complex installations, equipment relocations, upgrades, de-installations, and system commissioning activities.
- Serve as the highest technical escalation point before OEM engineering involvement.
- Provide advanced after-hours technical support as part of the on-call rotation.
- Ensure all service documentation, work orders, calibration records, quality assurance records, and equipment histories are complete, accurate, and submitted within established timeframes.
- Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, FDA, OSHA, NFPA, state regulations, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.
- Lead technical support during regulatory inspections, accreditation surveys, and customer audits.
- Review service documentation and provide technical feedback to junior engineers when requested.
- Maintain assigned inventory, specialized tools, OEM software, diagnostic equipment, and company vehicle.
- Manage complex repair parts, recommend stocking strategies, and identify cost-effective sourcing alternatives.
- Evaluate equipment condition and provide lifecycle recommendations to customers and leadership.
- Assist management with capital planning, replacement recommendations, and long-term equipment strategies.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts involving DICOM, PACS, HL7, networking, Windows operating systems, virtualization, and cybersecurity issues affecting imaging systems.
- Configure advanced imaging software, firmware updates, system integrations, and network communications.
- Develop standardized troubleshooting procedures, service documentation, and technical best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment uptime, service efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate directly with OEM engineering teams during advanced troubleshooting and software escalations.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend improvements to service processes and technical standards.
- Serve as a technical mentor for Imaging Service Engineer I and II personnel.
- Develop and deliver technical training, manufacturer updates, and equipment-specific education for engineering staff and customers.
- Assist leadership with onboarding, competency evaluations, and technical development plans for junior engineers.
- Maintain advanced OEM certifications and participate in continuing education to remain current with evolving imaging technologies.
- Share technical expertise across the organization to improve overall engineering capabilities.
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Military Biomedical Equipment Training, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- 5-8+ years of progressive experience servicing advanced diagnostic imaging equipment in a hospital, OEM, military, or independent service organization.
- Advanced OEM certifications within assigned imaging modalities strongly preferred.
- CBET, CRES, or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
- Expert knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment, imaging physics, electronic theory, and medical imaging technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of CT, MRI, PET/CT, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, Fluoroscopy, Radiography, Ultrasound, and related imaging systems based on assigned specialties.
- Expert troubleshooting skills involving hardware, software, networking, and system integration.
- Advanced understanding of DICOM, PACS, HL7, networking, Windows operating systems, cybersecurity principles, and healthcare IT environments.
- Ability to independently manage multiple high-priority service events while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.

- Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
