What will you be doing:
The Executive Director of Research Informatics is responsible for advancing academic excellence by delivering timely research-grade data solutions, high-performance computing, applications, translational AI research support, and other IT enabling functions across Cedars Sinai Academic Affairs operations. This position requires a strong background in research informatics, commitment to supporting higher education and academic research, evidence of biomedical research collaboration and leadership capabilities to direct a team of technical professionals.
  • Lead the strategic development and delivery of multimodal research-grade data products and services to support cutting-edge academic research initiatives.
  • Direct the development and implementation of transformative initiatives that advance Cedars Sinai's position as a leader in academic research and higher education.
  • Serve as a key thought partner to academic administration, faculty, students, and researchers for identifying, developing, and implementing advanced technology solutions that advance cutting-edge basic science, clinical, quantitative, and population research at Cedars Sinai.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of high-performance computing and storage infrastructure to meet the evolving demands of complex research programs.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to drive awareness and adoption of RISCC (Research, Informatics and Scientific Computing Core) technology solutions among academic stakeholders.
  • Direct the deployment of sophisticated technology solutions to streamline clinical trial enrollment and facilitate the implementation of AI discoveries in clinical settings.
  • Work with academic leadership to align RISCC capabilities with institutional research strategy and educational needs and priorities.
  • Develop and lead workshops, tutorials, and educational sessions to train and inform the research community about cutting-edge tools, technology, and programs available at Cedars-Sinai.
  • Direct the management of operating and capital expenditures for the department with strong financial stewardship, including budget development and resource allocation.
  • Establish standards and protocols for comprehensive support of education and research applications across the institution.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Information Services (EIS) leadership to ensure seamless integration of research technology services within the broader institutional technology ecosystem.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and research priorities.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team of analysts, business intelligence developers, and technical professionals.
  • Provide executive mentorship and foster professional development and growth of team members.
  • Establish and nurture a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide executive oversight for the consistent delivery of trusted, timely, and high-impact solutions to customers.

*Prefer someone who lives locally or willing to relocate to LA area, but open to remote in Approved States*
Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
Ten (10) plus years of experience in academic medical center environments with proven experience providing multimodal data services (EHR, imaging, pathology and other omics, unstructured data, etc.) and a track record of successfully implementing technology and AI services to support research, clinical trial recruitment, high-performance computing (HPC), and application support.
Five (5) plus years of management experience, preferably in a large medical center environment, with a focus on academic research.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related biomedical research field.
Master's degree preferred.
