Job description

TRA is hiring for a full time (1.0 FTE) Certified Physician Assistant to directly support our Interventional Radiology team. In this specialized role the Physician Assistant will join a dedicated team of IR providers who are committed to keeping patient care as its central focus. Role: Physician Assistant – Interventional Radiology

Location: Multiple Hospitals across Pierce and South King County with mileage reimbursement for qualified travel between facilities

Schedule: Standard Hours - 7:30AM – 5:30PM

This team works in support of local hospitals and operates 365 days per year. Applicants for this position are expected to have flexibility to work 10 hour shifts and some weekends and holidays. You will work alongside this cohesive team in order to fulfill the IR PA team coverage responsibilities.

Pay: $131,362.00 - $160,487.00 per year based on relevant experience, skills, and abilities. This role is also eligible for additional bonuses based on performance and shift.

Job Summary:

Primary duties of the Physician Assistant (PA) include assessing, planning and providing patient care under the supervision of a physician. The PA examines patients, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Will independently perform procedures in hospital and outpatient settings. The PA must also be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the radiology field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations on patients.
  • Perform Interventional Radiology procedures including but not limited to venous access, drain manipulations and exchanges, ultrasound-guided procedures, etc.
  • Provide essential tasks to create a steady workflow including pre-op History and Physicals, obtaining consents and post-op care.
  • Managing/Rounding/Consulting on patients in a critical care, post-surgical, and an outpatient setting. 
  • Performs initial consultations and follow up clinic visits in an outpatient setting.  The Physician Assistant is able to collaborate with the attending Physician to enact a treatment model for various disease processes.
  • Expected to work a 4-day work week, and occasionally more to assist in vacation coverage, as well as participate in the weekend call pool.  Day to day tasks vary from an inpatient setting, outpatient clinic, all which can be performed under personal, directed or general supervision of the physician.
  • May assist and support physicians in surgical procedures.
  • May order and interpret other tests on patients, such as lab work.
  • Diagnose and treat patients.
  • May develop and carry out treatment plans under the supervision of physician.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Check work email daily.

Qualifications:

Education/Work Experience:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited institution
  • Current Washington licensure as a Physician Assistant. This position requires a licensure to practice in the state of Washington
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification required

Job Knowledge/Skills

  • Strong clinical experience with surgical, intensive care or interventional radiology background preferred.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse team, including physicians, technologists and nurses, as well as other physician assistants.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
  • Communicate professionally with other medical facilities, patients, and customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and carry out instructions effectively.

Physical Requirements

Work is classified as moderate in physical requirements. Must be able to assist in supporting patients of varying weight. Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Also requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment as necessary.

Mental Requirements

Work requires high attention to detail and the ability to handle mentally stressful situations. The ability to maintain high level of sensitivity towards confidential information is also required.

Working/Environmental Conditions

Work environment consists of normal clinical inpatient and outpatient working conditions.  There may be exposure to communicable diseases. There will be limited exposure to ionizing radiation.
