Job description


The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Cardiovascular CT independently manages cardiovascular CT imaging services, including exam protocoling, clinical oversight, medication management, and workflow optimization. This role supports patient safety, diagnostic image quality, and operational efficiency while serving as a key liaison among radiologists, technologists, nursing staff, trainees, and ordering providers across assigned locations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Independently protocol and oversee cardiovascular CT examinations based on clinical indications and patient specific factors
  • Review electronic health records to assess prior surgeries, cardiac devices, arrhythmias, renal function, body habitus, and contrast allergies
  • Communicate directly with ordering providers to clarify exam intent, resolve protocol questions, and address safety concerns
  • Provide on site clinical support for contrast reactions, medication administration, and IV access issues
  • Assess renal function and determine safety of iodinated contrast use
  • Manage cardiovascular CT related medications including beta blockers and nitroglycerin, with real time patient monitoring and dose adjustment
  • Monitor image acquisition at the scanner and assist technologists with protocol execution and technical modifications
  • Perform post processing of gated cardiovascular CT datasets to optimize diagnostic quality
  • Collaborate closely with cardiovascular radiologists to support efficient workflow and diagnostic accuracy
  • Educate fellows, residents, technologists, nursing staff, and new radiologists on cardiovascular CT protocols, image optimization, and safety
  • Support operational needs including scheduling coordination, workflow balancing, and billing or order correction guidance

Qualifications
New Grads will not be considered at this time, 1-2+ years of APP experience
Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP or ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required
