Theater Lead

Marbles Kids Museum is a vibrant, nonprofit children’s museum and IMAX Theatre located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Marbles has been sparking imagination, discovery, and learning through play since opening its doors in 2007. Marbles’ serves a diverse population of families, school groups, and community organizations through award-winning play-based exhibits, summer camps, IMAX documentaries, feature movies, and special events year-round. Today Marbles ranks among the top family destinations in North Carolina providing learning experiences for children with creative programs, and larger-than-life movies. 

The Opportunity 

You can be a part of something big by working at Marbles IMAX! Not only will you be working with your favorite stars every day, but as a Theater Lead, you get to play! You will spend your time interacting with kids and adults, encouraging them to imagine, discover and learn while watching movies and documentaries.

We are looking for a responsible Theater Lead to join our team! The lead is responsible for running the theater’s daily operations (concessions and ticketing procedures) while delegating tasks and supervising the theater team in the absence of the Theater Manager. This position delivers a top-notch guest experience consistent with the mission, goals, strategy, and programming of Marbles Kids Museum.  

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete opening and closing duties.
  • Provide an exceptional guest experience that is aligned with Marbles customer service procedures.
  • Effectively communicate scheduling, equipment, inventory, and other operational issues with your manager.
  • Prepare and serve beverages and concession offerings.
  • Describe concessions, movies, and operational procedure details to guests.
  • Receive and process customer payments.
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes lobby, service stations, and seating areas.
  • Ensures customer self-service stations are properly stocked.
  • Stock supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed.
  • Ensure proper functioning of all food equipment by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
  • Provide support and training for Theater Hosts while overseeing operations.
  • Communicate Theater facility cleaning and presentation needs to the Porter team.
  • In the event of an emergency, confidently execute Marbles Emergency Action Plan.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

  • Shift Supervision and training for all Theater Hosts.

Ideal Experience & Skills

  • One year of customer service experience, particularly with families and young children.
  • At least six months of Theater or Retail experience.
  • Experience with point-of-sale and inventory software (Shopify and Tessitura experience preferred). 
  • Ability to maintain a helpful, friendly, and playful demeanor in a busy environment. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. 
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team preferred.
  • Ability to establish goals, set priorities, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with the ability to serve alcoholic beverages. 

Physical Demands

  • Walking, standing, stooping, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Occasionally using a ladder, and going up and down stairs
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Schedule

  • Weekday evenings and weekend availability preferred.
  • This role requires a flexible schedule, including availability on weekends, evenings, late nights, and holidays.

Work Environment

  • Occasional exposure to noisy and crowded atmosphere.
  • May be needed to walk between two buildings with some outdoor exposure.
