Position Description Summary/Purpose:
Goodwin University is seeking an DNP prepared candidate to fulfill the role of Assistant Professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner track of the master's program in the Nursing department starting in August 2026.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Instructing up to fifteen (15) credits per semester (three semesters per year)
  • Leading on-campus immersion weekends for FNP students
  • Assisting students with securing clinical placements, including precepting Goodwin students in your clinical practice as you are able
  • Supporting the maintenance of curriculum, program assessment and evaluation and accreditation standards.
  • Supporting nursing program through committee participation
  • Supporting MSN program in special projects under the direction of the MSN director
  • Directly reporting any concerns to Program Director
  • Cultivating and maintaining professional relationships with faculty, preceptors, and clinical sites.
  • Conducts all work in a safe and professional manner and all work safety practices are followed.

Other Functions:
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Doctoral degree in nursing, with board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • Active RN and APRN Licensure in the state of Connecticut
  • At least two years of experience working as an FNP
  • At least one year teaching experience at the collegiate level

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in Nursing
  • Experience with Canvas or similar online Learning Management Systems
  • Experience with Typhon clinical documentation platform or similar
  • Experience with Shadow Health virtual simulation platform or similar
  • Dual certification as PMHNP
