General Purpose
Winnetka's Public Works Department is seeking applicants for a temporary full-time position of Seasonal Laborer in the Fleet Division.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist Fleet mechanics in performing basic maintenance, such as oil changes, basic preventative maintenance, fluid checks, and other services on Village fleet and equipment.
  • Transport vehicles and parts between locations as needed.
  • Perform general labor duties including, but not limited to, shop cleaning, organizing tools, inventorying parts and disposing waste materials.
  • Assist mechanics with diagnosis or repair work as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, vehicle conditions, and maintenance activities.
  • Follow safety procedures and safety protocols in the maintenance and repair of village vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist with other public works related duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Desired Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and/or willingness to learn fleet maintenance operations.
  • Ability to read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language.
  • Valid driver's license. CDL preferred.

Other Requirements
Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours weekly, Monday through Friday, not to exceed 999 work hours.
Village of Winnetka
Hourly Rate Range: $20 - $25 per hour depending on qualifications.
