Summary of Job Duties:
The Poison Control Specialist provides clinical information and evidence-based recommendations regarding toxic or potentially toxic exposures to healthcare providers and the public within the APDIC service region. This role also delivers medication-related guidance, supporting safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals. The position ensures timely, accurate communication and contributes to high-quality poison control and drug information services.
Qualifications:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Strong reading, writing, and computer proficiency skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care settings
  • New graduates with prior LPN experience in ED or Critical Care will be considered

Additional Information:
Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment, information, and treatment recommendations for toxic or potentially toxic exposures via telephone and other communication channels
  • Document, update, and maintain accurate electronic medical records for all inquiries
  • Deliver education and guidance on toxic substances and medications to healthcare providers and the public
  • Assist in the education and training of professional students and residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned
