Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Towers & Structures Inc, a division of Nucor, the nation's largest recycler and largest manufacturer of steel and steel products, is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Engineering Manager at our business unit located in Rock Hill, SC. Specific job responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:

  • Lead a team of Engineers, Estimators, and/or Detailers to provide quotes, designs, and drawings for transmission, distribution, substation, or other utility structures; primarily tubular steel poles, arms, and accessories.
  • This position reports to the Director of the Engineering Department.
  • Interview and hire new teammates to build the team.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability to teammates.
  • Ensure consistent application of current design policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Manage the team's priorities and set expectations.
  • Guide teammates to deliver quality work, on time, with consistent results.
  • Be active within Division leadership team to drive continuous improvement and overall success of the business.
  • Support sales team through customer interactions, promoting our value proposition and cultivating deeper partnerships.
  • Make decisions with other engineering department leaders to provide safe and competitive product designs.
  • Travel is required to visit customers, support plants, exhibit at trade shows, and more.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior leadership experience
  • 2+ years of utility pole/tower structures industry experience
  • 2+ years steel products design or structural steel connection design experience
  • Degree specifically with Structural emphasis
  • Master's degree in engineering or business
  • Willing to relocate for future advancement opportunities within Nucor
