Job description

This role is essentially looking for a senior Windows Server administrator with strong migration/decommissioning experience, especially across on-prem Microsoft infrastructure.

Key requirements to highlight:
  • Windows Server: 2016/2019/2022/2025 migration and upgrade experience
  • Active Directory: Domain controllers, domains/forests, replication, GPO, FSMO, trusts, health checks
  • DNS & DHCP: Migration, failover, scope configuration, troubleshooting, decommissioning
  • PKI: Microsoft AD CS, certificate authorities, certificate migration/renewal, decommissioning
  • FRS โ†’ DFSR: SYSVOL migration and validation
  • File Servers: Windows file server migrations, SMB, NTFS/share permissions, DFS
  • Print Servers: Printer/queue migration and decommissioning
  • IIS: Web server migration, application pools, bindings, certificates, troubleshooting
  • PowerShell: Automation, migration scripts, health checks, reporting, bulk administration
  • Performance & Troubleshooting: CPU, memory, disk, networking, Event Viewer, PerfMon, Windows services
  • VMware: vSphere/ESXi, VM provisioning, migration, snapshots, VMware Tools, performance troubleshooting
  • Decommissioning: Dependency assessment, migration validation, application owner coordination, server retirement, cleanup/documentation
  • On-prem infrastructure: Hardware/VM-based Windows environments rather than primarily cloud administration
