Volunteer Coach
Position: Volunteer Coach
Department: Athletics
Location: Westmont High School
Position Summary:
Community School District 201 is seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with coaching and supporting the athletics program. The Volunteer Coach will work under the direction of the head coach and athletic department to support student athletes and contribute to a positive, safe, and supportive team environment.
Repsonsibilities
- Assist with practices, games, and team activities.
- Support the head coach in developing student-athletes' skills and knowledge of the sport.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive behavior.
- Follow all District, IHSA, and athletic department policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe and positive environment for student-athletes.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the requirements of IHSA By-law 2.070 Qualifications of Coaches, including:
- Be regularly certified by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as a teacher, administrator, or school service personnel; or
- Be a retired teacher/coach from an IHSA member school; or
- Be a college student coaching as part of an official student-teaching assignment; or
- Be certified through an IHSA Board-approved coaching certification program.
- Be at least 19 years of age.
- Be officially employed by the local Board of Education of the member school.
- Complete all applicable IHSA coaching education/certification requirements prior to coaching.
- Successfully complete all District-required screenings, background checks, and training.
- Knowledge and experience in a specific sport volunteering for.
- Ability to work effectively with students and coaching staff
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Successful completion of all District-required screening, training, and background check requirements.
Volunteer Status
This is an unpaid volunteer position and is not benefit-eligible.
The volunteer coach will serve under the direction and supervision of the District and coaching staff and must comply with all applicable District policies and requirements.
