Reports To: Head Volleyball Coach / Athletic Director
Position Type: Seasonal / Part-Time
Position Summary
Marian Catholic High School seeks a dedicated, energetic, and student-centered Assistant Volleyball Coach to support the continued growth and success of the Spartan volleyball program. The Assistant Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach to develop student-athletes in skill, teamwork, leadership, and character while supporting the mission and values of Marian Catholic High School.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices and skill-development sessions
  • Teach and reinforce volleyball fundamentals, techniques, and game strategies
  • Help foster a culture of discipline, teamwork, accountability, and sportsmanship
  • Support the development of student-athletes as competitors, leaders, and individuals of strong character
  • Assist with match preparation, scouting, and game management responsibilities
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, contests, travel, and team activities
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, coaches, and school personnel
  • Support offseason programming, camps, and efforts that strengthen and grow the volleyball program
  • Assist with equipment management, uniforms, and program organization
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures, as well as all rules and regulations of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA)
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director

Qualifications
  • Previous volleyball coaching and/or playing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of volleyball skills, strategy, and player development
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to motivate and positively mentor high school student-athletes
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends during the athletic season
  • Must satisfy all IHSA coaching requirements, including required certifications and background checks
  • CPR/AED certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification

Compensation
Compensation based on Marian Catholic High School coaching stipend schedule and experience.
