JOB SUMMARY
Our Patient Registration team greets and welcomes patients into our clinic. They perform a variety of reception, clerical, insurance, and data entry duties, such as answer in-coming phone calls, schedule appointments, and coordinate patient flow for both Spanish and English speaking patients. They will also provide interpretation during medical and dental patient appointments as needed
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Answer in-coming phone calls.
  • Schedule appointments using OCHIN/Epic via phone/face to face.
  • Assist with front desk coverage.
  • Register patients and assist patients with Registration form as needed.
  • Update patient registration information (address, phone number, insurance, sliding fee discount, Patient Survey, etc) in OCHIN/Epic.
  • Properly verify patients' insurance via OCHIN/Epic, MN-ITS, etc. as needed
  • Assist patient with Release of Information forms.
  • Schedule uninsured patients in MNSure schedule for financial assistance.
  • Collect upfront payments, co-pays, payments for pros work (dentures, partials, etc) from patients following current process and procedures.
  • Process insurance credit card payments as needed.
  • Print Daily Balance report and submit with payments and receipts.
  • Communicate with Drivers regarding ride schedule cancellations and confirmations.
  • Assist in patient satisfaction surveys as needed.
  • Ensure cash bag is locked and in the safe at the end of the business day.
  • Keep workstation welcoming, clean, and sanitized, including lobby during work hours.
  • Keep Central Registration area stocked. Copies made as needed.
  • Assist in extended clinic hour coverage on a rotating basis.
  • Complete projects assigned by supervisor.
  • Other duties deemed necessary by supervisor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent, AA preferred
  • Fluent in Spanish and English
  • 1+ years of medical or dental scheduling experience required
  • Computer experience required
  • 1+ years of experience with Electronic Health Records scheduling (OCHIN/Epic a plus)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology highly desired

HIPAA
IHB makes reasonable efforts to limit access to and use of protected health information (PHI) by employees to the minimum necessary performance of assigned duties as outlines in job descriptions. This position is access restricted to PHI needed to carry out health care operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items and driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
