Job Summary:
Panasonic Avionics Corporation is a leader in delivering inflight entertainment products. The Manager of Engineering will lead teams in the design, development, integration, and testing of IFE software systems while applying Agile practices and incorporating AI/ML technologies to enhance system efficiency and personalization.
Responsibilities:
• Leads engineering teams in the design, development, integration, and testing of IFE software systems, applying SAFe Agile practices to deliver scalable and aviation compliant solutions.
• Incorporates AI/ML technologies to enhance personalization, predictive capabilities, and system efficiency across IFE platforms.
• Lead engineering teams in the research, design, development, integration, and testing of In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) software systems and platforms.
• Apply SAFe Agile principles to drive iterative development, continuous integration, predictability, and engineering excellence.
• Provide technical leadership across software design, development, coding, debugging, and implementation for new and existing products.
• Ensure adherence to industry standard engineering concepts, methodologies, and development practices.
• Support requirements development based on specifications, user inputs, system behaviors, and preliminary design concepts.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies to enhance product capability, reduce cost, and meet environmental and regulatory constraints.
• Architect and integrate AI/ML technologies to enhance personalization, predictive analytics, system intelligence, and operational efficiency across IFE platforms.
• Drive problem solving activities and ensure solutions meet design intent, performance expectations, and qualification requirements.
• Hire, train, develop and appraise direct staff.
• Anticipates financial needs, quantifies budget to support project planning, and manages budget per forecast and schedules.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 4 year degree, preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, or other Technical Degree.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering or 9+ years of relevant software experience in lieu of a 4 year degree.
• 5+ years supervisory, team lead, or project leader experience.
• Working knowledge of designing, development, coding, testing, debugging and implementing technical projects for the fabrication, modification and evaluation of new or existing software solutions or products.
• Proficient with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Software Engineering field.
• Proficient in designing and developing requirements from specifications, oral instructions, or preliminary sketches.
• Ability to facilitate organizational transformation to support business strategy.
• Demonstrated ability to drive ownership and accountability in delivering quality products on time to customers.
• Ability to develop and implement test methods and procedures.
• Ability to work in a diverse, fast paced, ever changing environment.
• Demonstrated leadership, people and team building skills. Ability to effectively resolve staff issues as they arise.
• Excellent written and verbal skills with proactive attitude.
• Ability to effectively communicate between several departments within the global organization.
• Outstanding communication skills and demonstrated ability in developing and delivering complex business and technical presentations for senior management.
• Ability to introduce new technologies to improve cost, environmental and other product requirement constraints.
• Problem solving and troubleshooting skills required to meet design and qualification requirements.
• Ability to receive assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
• Proven ability to direct and coordinate staff in developing solutions to technical problems that require extensive investigation and clarification.
• Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
• Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
• Ability to travel both domestically and up to 15% of time.
Preferred:
• Cabin avionics and In-flight entertainment experience highly preferred.
• Agile software development and DevOps skills preferred.
