Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Life Safety Systems (LSS) Superintendent with specific expertise in Fire Alarm (FA) and VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) systems to support field execution at a large-scale data center build. This role is boots-on-the-ground, ensuring subcontractors and trade partners are meeting quality, schedule, and safety expectations for all life safety scopes.

The LSS Superintendent will report directly to the Construction Manager and will assist in daily installation oversight.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day installation, testing, and integration of Fire Alarm and VESDA systems.
  • Monitor subcontractor progress and verify work is completed per design, drawings, codes, and specifications.
  • Conduct daily field walks, inspections, and quality assurance checks.
  • Support commissioning teams with pre-functional checklists, integrated testing, and turnover documentation.
  • Enforce site safety practices and ensure compliance with all NFPA, IFC, IBC, and local fire code requirements.
  • Coordinate with the GC, trade foremen, and owner’s team to resolve field issues quickly.
  • Track progress against schedule and escalate risks or delays to the CM and project leadership.
  • Assist in punch list development and closure for LSS systems.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • 5–7+ years of field supervision experience in Fire Alarm and smoke detection systems; data center or mission-critical environment preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of FA & VESDA systems, including installation practices and testing protocols.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, IBC, and IFC requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage crews and subcontractors in a fast-paced, large-scale construction environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a hands-on, proactive approach.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site and adapt to dynamic project conditions.
