Job Title: Franklin Elementary Special Education Teacher

Primary Role
The Elementary Special Education Teacher provides instructional support and case management to students with disabilities while ensuring compliance with Individual Education Program (IEP) requirements. This role serves as Teacher of Record (TOR), monitors progress, and facilitates case conferences in collaboration with families, teachers, and cooperative staff. The teacher provides resources such as IEP at a Glance to general education teachers and supports implementation of accommodations in the classroom. By combining instructional support, compliance, and collaboration, the Special Education Teacher promotes student achievement and success in both general and special education settings.
Key Accountabilities
Job Specific Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with state and federal special education regulations through accurate and timely implementation of IEPs.
• Serve as Teacher of Record (TOR) for assigned students, monitoring progress and maintaining documentation.
• Provide all documentation including accommodations for students in the general education classroom to the general education teachers.
• Facilitate case conference meetings and work with the cooperative to schedule conferences as required.
• Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and write and implement behavior intervention plans.
• Monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals through ongoing data collection and reporting.

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with general education teachers to support accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
• Communicate consistently with families to provide updates on progress, address concerns, and build strong partnerships.
• Work with the special education team and, when applicable, serve on the Building Implementation Team (BIT) to support schoolwide improvement efforts.
• Coordinate with cooperative staff and administrators to ensure smooth scheduling and completion of case conferences.

• Engage in professional learning to strengthen knowledge of instructional strategies, compliance requirements, and collaborative practices.

Other Duties
Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the elementary school building and the curriculum, instruction, and assessment programming for elementary school students with disabilities.
