Job Description

As the AMR Safety Lead, you will serve in a senior role responsible for the overall functional safety of the AMR Business' products. You will guide functional safety alignment across the teams in the AMR Business (software, hardware, and services etc.) and working with other safety engineers at Rockwell to ensure consistent safety implementation. You will report to the Electrical and Safety Manager of the AMR Business, but partner across all businesses and segments globally depending on need and fit with the AMR products.

You will be work in a hybrid environment from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, or Mayfield Heights OH.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional safety expertise across multiple teams during all phases of the product lifecycle.
  • Work with the safety leads of different departments at Rockwell to align the AMR business with our overall goals and objectives concerning functional safety and regulatory needs.
  • Define and continuously improve and guide alignment of AMR Business's safety policies/processes with the larger Rockwell safety guidelines. Including; functional safety processes, methods, templates, and best practices across the business.
  • Participate on standards committees relevant to AMRs to ensure our portfolio of products and services are positioned effectively to deliver the business outcomes, applications, and capabilities.
  • Take an ownership role in architecting the AMR safety strategy. This includes collaboration with systems, product management, engineering, services, and operation teams across the business. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive product launches.
  • Provide guidance to key regional stakeholders on customer needs and business priorities with respect to functional safety statements and interruptions.
  • Maintaining oversight of residual risk management and customer-facing safety documentation.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents internally and externally and provide appropriate responses and reports.
  • Drive interpretation and implementation of evolving standards such as ISO 3691-4, ISO 13849, IEC 62061, IEC 61508, ANSI B56.5, and related regulations.
  • Mentor engineers and technical leaders on hazard analysis, risk assessment, safety requirements development, and functional safety principles.

The Essentials: You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the USA. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
  • Availability for travel up to 10% of the time domestic and international.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • Prior experience with international regulatory standards or similar industry working committees
  • Represent the company at an executive level with key customers, industry groups, standards committees, and distributors.
  • Work with a geographically dispersed team
  • Expert level of automation industry knowledge with a focus on machine safety
  • TUV Functional Safety Engineer or Functional Safety Expert Certification (or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62061, EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230, or other relevant standards

For this role, the Base Salary Compensation is from $92,720.00 - $115,900.00 CAD Annual for Canada with an annual target bonus of 5% of base salary. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
