***Fleet Mechanic ***- IDS at PITTSBURGH International Airport

Full-time Position - Starting pay: $28.00/hr.

  • Shoulder/summer-season schedule: 4 – Ten hour days Monday - Thursday, 0500 - 1530 from May thru Sept. | Peak/Winter-season schedule: Rotating-shifts and days off based on Operational needs from Oct. – Apr.

Position Overview:

Mechanics play an important role in ensuring proper performance, safety and reliability of our Heavy-Duty Deicer trucks, GRV (Glycol Recovery Vehicle) trucks, Wastewater trucks, light-duty Support vehicles and ground service equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

  • Accountable for local maintenance scheduling and performance to ensure equipment dependability;
  • Perform all duties of a skilled maintenance technician following recognized procedures for such work, as required;
  • Ability to read and use maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other related maintenance documents to complete work assignments;
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems and resolve within an established timeframe;
  • Maintain complete and accurate maintenance records and conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections on equipment using our maintenance management software;

Required Skills and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Must be at least 18 years old;
  • Must be able to pass the federal government requirements to obtain an airport badge;
  • Must be able to speak and hear efficiently;
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills;
  • Candidates must have your own basic set of tools (sockets/wrenches) up to 1" in size and up to 1/2" drive and toolbox.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to manipulate multiple tasks and conflicting deadlines at once;
  • Knowledge of fluid types, diesel powered machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance;
  • Maintain and treat all information as confidential;
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and carry out instructions in English;
  • Possess the tact to deal with all levels of employees and client representatives; (Team player)
  • Proven knowledge and use of standard and specialty tools and specialized testing equipment (i.e. photo tachometer, diagnostics tools and hardware, scanners and meters);
  • A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
  • Ability to travel to our other IDS Airport stations to help our company when called upon. (TDY)

Work Environment:

  • Physically strenuous, prolonged periods of time standing with exposure to noise (may be excessive at times), safe but potentially unpleasant odors, varying temperatures and humidity, in and around heavy moving equipment.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms, speak and hear efficiently;
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling;
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
