SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: This position is exempt from classified state service and the rules of the Division of Human Resources and the Idaho Personnel Commission. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Maintenance Technician. This position will be located at our Panhandle Regional Office located in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. This position is a 5-month, non-benefited temporary position and will work up to 40 hours a week. Work schedules may include weekends and holidays. The work schedule is flexible but generally, this position will work four 10-hour days. This position drives to access sites from St Maries to Bonners Ferry, keeping our properties clean and accessible. The technician performs landscaping duties (mostly mowing and weed whacking), picks up garbage and cleans the restrooms at our sites.

General Information:
Incumbents may work in all weather conditions and move in and around confined spaces. These positions are maintenance oriented. These positions involve lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 90 pounds, bending, stooping, shoveling, and climbing ladders. Work may be required in remote and rugged terrain. May require some overnight and day travel.
Responsibilities:
  • This position works as part of a several-person team to perform operations and maintenance of Department lands and facilities, primarily fishing and boating access sites. The incumbent must be able to communicate and function effectively as part of a team, in addition to working well independently.
  • This work involves collaboration and coordination with staff from multiple agencies and private contractors.
  • Cleaning/restocking restrooms and removing trash.
  • Operate tools and equipment such as pressure washers, lawnmowers, and weed eaters.
  • Perform light maintenance (painting, dock repair, small engines).
  • Document site use, needed repairs, replacing, and installing signage.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)
  • Some knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and/or general building maintenance.
  • Experience performing semi-skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or building maintenance repair.
  • Experience using, repairing, and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.

The ideal candidate will possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Please indicate in your application materials whether you currently hold a CDL and provide details regarding any heavy equipment experience. Candidates who hold a CDL may receive additional consideration during the interview process.
