Job description

Software Engineer

American factories deserve a supply chain that moves as fast as they do. The next generation of American manufacturing is being built right now. Nox Metals is the supply chain behind it.

Nox Metals is a technology company in Detroit supplying aluminum plate, bar, and rounds to aerospace and defense manufacturers. We use software and automation to supply metal to American factories faster than the industry thought possible.

We are building NOX NEST, the AI platform that runs our entire operation. Quoting, nesting optimization, job scheduling, machine integration, customer portal, internal tooling. Our code ships to the factory floor.

You will:

  • Ship features across the full stack
  • Build and improve ML models for cut-time estimation, nesting optimization, and demand intelligence
  • Write software that integrates directly with saws and material handling hardware
  • Work on real-time scheduling and operational systems
  • Help build infrastructure that scales across automated cells
  • Use a large compute budget to solve hard problems
  • Be an idea guy/girl
  • Implement vision systems

You should be:

  • A strong engineer who ships fast and owns what they build
  • Comfortable across the stack from database to UI to cloud infra
  • Experienced with Python, TypeScript, or similar
  • Interested in applied ML and not afraid of messy real-world data
  • Cracked with AI tools and modern development workflows
  • High agency. You take on big problems alone and ask for help when needed
  • Low ego. You do what needs to get done
  • Always suggesting better ways to build
  • Customer obsessed. Your code directly affects whether a factory gets its material on time
  • Not afraid to work outside normal hours when something needs to ship

This role is full time, in person in Detroit.
