Position Overview
The RN - ICU Stepdown provides direct patient care for intermediate-level acuity patients transitioning from intensive care. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary care teams to support positive patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Document patient care according to organizational standards
- Delegate and direct care appropriately to team members
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Support quality improvement, patient safety, and infection prevention initiatives
- Maintain professional competency through ongoing education and development
Required Qualifications
Education
- Degree from an accredited School of Nursing
Experience
- At least 1 year of recent (within the last 36 months) RN experience in:
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Stepdown Unit
- Intermediate Care setting
- Must be able to provide care independently within the department
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire
- ACLS within 6 months of hire
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
