Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary

As an Advanced Patient Care Technician, you will deliver high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to daily living and assisting the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), you will assist the nursing staff in providing one or more specialized patient care services.  


  • You will assist patients with basic needs, personal hygiene, mobility and transportation 


  • You will obtain and record patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data and vital signs 


  • You will provide or assist with non-medicated support care, including non-sterile dressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, and venous compression devices 


  • You will perform hourly rounding and respond promptly to call lights and patient requests 


  • You will obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests 


  • You will prepare and maintains clean, hazard-free patient rooms and assist in the setup, removal, and cleaning of equipment 


  • You will assist with patient preparation for surgery or other procedure 


  • You will perform clerical work as needed, including assembling and maintaining charts, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relaying messages 


  • You will perform one more of the following tasks under the direction of an RN: phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring, removal of indwelling catheters, removal of peripheral intraveinous lines, and/or enhanced skin/wound treatment 


  • You will complete and adhere to enhanced Healthcare Acquired Infections training and enhanced skin/wound care training 


Education & Experience  


  • Completion of training and demonstration of competency in one or more specialized functions within scope 


  • 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting or as a military medic- preferred  


  • CNA, LNA, or EMT Training Program, or Military Medic Training- preferred 


Certifications  


  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date
