Job description

The Figure Skating Summer Camp Instructor provides engaging, ageappropriate instruction and supervision in a fun and supportive camp environment. Instructors lead both onice and office activities while helping skaters develop fundamental skills, confidence, and a love for figure skating.

Essential Duties & Requirements: 

  • Lead onice instruction focusing on skating fundamentals, edges, stroking, turns, basic jumps, spins, and performance skills appropriate to skater ability.
  • Supervise and participate in office activities, including warmups, stretching, conditioning, games, and teambuilding activities.
  • Assist with a weekly field trip to the local park district pool, ensuring skater safety, engagement, and positive behavior.
  • Adapt instruction to various ages, skill levels, and learning styles.
  • Encourage confidence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and respectful behavior on and off the ice.
  • Maintain a safe environment by enforcing equipment requirements and following rink, camp, and SafeSport guidelines.
  • Support daily camp operations including setup, group transitions, and schedule flow.
  • Interact professionally with campers, parents, and fellow staff as a positive representative of the program.

Professional Expectations:

  • Arrive on time, prepared, and appropriately dressed for onice and office activities.
  • Model enthusiasm, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
  • Maintain required background checks, SafeSport training, and skating/coaching credentials as applicable.

Hours/Schedule: 

  • Weekdays 8:30a-3:30pm
  • Schedule may vary based on enrollment

Pay Rate: 

  • $15-$18 per hour
