Job description:

Qualifications:

• Experience with ice resurfacer operations, and maintenance
• Experience with building repair, maintenance, HVAC and operations, including knowledge of plumbing, electrical carpentry repairs
• Flexibility with work schedule, nights, weekends, and holidays when needed
• Job reliability, punctuality, diligence, dedication, and attention to detail
• Capacity to concentrate in a high stress, noisy game situations and crowds of people

• Ensure ice and building are maintained in excellent working order
• Operate (drive) and maintain ice resurfacing machines, ice edger, and all related equipment required for the maintenance of quality sheets of ice
• Maintain records of ice thickness, ice temperatures, humidity readings, ambient air readings and dew point readings as outlined on checklists
• Ensure all equipment and tools necessary to fulfill ice maintenance tasks are always available and in good working order. Report any equipment deficiencies to the GM
• Edge ice on a consistent basis to keep ice surface level
• Includes periodic cleaning and wiping of all exterior surfaces of the machines Changing of blades on conditioner and lubricating required fittings
• Visual inspection of resurfacer machine and its operation
• Clean and maintain interior and exterior of facility
• Repair broken or malfunctioning equipment, as needed
• Work within the framework of an annual expense budget
• Prepare Ice Maintenance Schedule and documentation
• Prepare Resurfacer Maintenance Schedule and documentation
• Prepare ice and building evaluation summary for Sr. Facility Manager / GM, including needs analysis and estimates for all projects
• Participate in set-up and disassembly of hockey glass, dasher boards as needed
• Responds quickly to emergencies, involves additional assistance as needed
• Serve as Manager-on-Duty when General Manager is not in the building
• Responsible for personal safety and the safety of those you supervise and others who are affected by your work and rink conditions.

• Follows Black Bear Sports Group policies and procedures Supervisory
• Supervise Resurfacer Operators and Maintenance Staff to assist with keeping ice resurfaced and facility clean and in good working order
• Oversee staff to execute all of the essential functions listed above
• Create and Implement Ice Maintenance Training Programs for staff
• Train Resurfacer Operators to drive resurfacer properly and keep detailed documentation regarding building logs

• While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multitask under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including but not limited to: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical Demands:

• While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the building and ice to perform essential functions (Zamboni and building maintenance) and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Work Environment:
• The essential functions of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
