Special emphasis on data modeling, data analysis and deployment of databases.

ERwin or other data modeling skills are mandatory.

Design of large databases (100 + tables) and database sizes greater then 1TB to include at least 3-5 years with applications analysis and design.

Basic knowledge of SQL Server 2012 preferred

Basic knowledge of SSIS ETL Tools preferred

Job Description

Perform physical design and performance tuning of multiple databases containing more than 500 tables for both real-time and batch applications. Ideal candidates will have deep Oracle Exadata and SQL Server experience, although this is not mandatory. Oracle experience, however, is mandatory.

Duties and Responsibilities

Produce and document physical database design using ERwin as a data modeling tool, while working with users and developers to understand their data needs and relationships to existing corporate data

Maintain the Enterprise data model repository using ERwin ModelMart Software. As part of project team, define tasks and design system architecture for new implementations, provide projects status information to management.

Perform physical database design at the object level, create DDL scripts, define database snapshots, table partitions, and backup/recovery strategy

Database tuning, instance performance monitoring, tablespace utilization, schema object management, database capacity planning.

Coordinate testing with other development groups and operations. Identify appropriate level of testing and ensure that testing is complete before signing off

Provide support for development and production systems.

In the near future, will be asked to architect and develop DataStage ETL Jobs with multi-threading and parallelism. Design, Develop and maintain DataStage processes with proper utilization of multithreading, partitioning and other performance tuning techniques - this is the reason DataStage is strongly preferred

Education and Training

Bachelor's degree - Computer Science or related discipline is preferred.

Professional Experience

Experience with queries tuning and performance monitoring. Candidates should have examples.

A minimum of 10 years' experience in Data Warehouse environment with Star Schema / Relational database design.

Knowledge and practical experience of applications development in distributed network environment.
