Description
The IT Network Engineer is a senior technician administering the CU SoCal network environment, as well as acting as part of a technical project team to execute technology projects as assigned. The role requires advanced knowledge of and substantive experience in network engineering, with some understanding of security configurations.
The IT Network Engineer also works to complete assigned trouble tickets that are escalated from the First Response team as well as perform routine maintenance such as patching and vulnerability remediation.
Business Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM*
*Based upon business needs, our positions may require working flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. The IT Network Engineer is a member of a rotating after hours support team for the credit union network infrastructure.
This position is based in Anaheim Hills CA with the opportunity to work on a hybrid-remote schedule which consists of 1 day in-office and 4 days working remote from home.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience on complex multi-site, routed networks running SD-WAN, dynamic routing protocols, advanced Layer 2 switching architecture, and VoIP.
  • Ability to balance ticketed requests and project work - communication of commitments is essential.

This role requires driving and must meet and maintain the following requirements:
  • Hold a valid CA state driver's license in good standing that is not actively suspended, revoked, or restricted.
  • Have reliable personal transportation. Use of any means of public transportation or ridesharing services will not satisfy this requirement.
  • Must maintain state liability auto insurance coverage with a minimum of 30/60/15 limits on the vehicle that will be used for work.
  • Maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Records (MVR).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in computer science, Business, or Administration.
  • 7+ years of experience on complex multi-site, routed networks running SD-WAN, dynamic routing protocols, advanced Layer 2 switching architecture, and VoIP.
  • Advanced Certifications (CCNA, Azure or AWS certifications or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience with automation based on PowerShell scripting.

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in applicable MS Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of networking device administration of Cisco Catalyst and Meraki switches, wireless access points, Cisco ASA and SonicWall firewalls and SD-WAN, and Kemp Load Balancers.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including root issue identification and remediation.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and/or OSI model, switching and routing technologies and protocols, storage area network (SAN) protocols, WAN, SD-WAN, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with centralized logging services (SEIM systems such as Rapid7), including ability to write RegEx queries to query logs.
  • Sufficient knowledge of security best practices including knowledge of encryption protocols, cipher suites, vulnerability remediation, and device security configuration.
  • Strong documentation skills required, strong written / oral communication skills are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • At the direction of the Manager IT Infrastructure, configure, operate, and monitor network components such as SD-WAN devices, internal and external firewalls, IDS/ IPS systems, internet proxies, and network load balancers (including WAFs).
  • Support on-premises network equipment running in a complex environment including switching and dynamic routing, and configuration for redundancy across multiple datacenters.
  • At the direction of the Manager IT Infrastructure, configure network connectivity to cloud IaaS services such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS including but not limited to IPSec VPNs and virtual networks.
  • At the direction of the Manager IT Infrastructure and InfoSec Team, remediate vulnerabilities, configure network devices and firewalls to support a pre-defined standard such as CIS Level 1 / Level 2.
  • Participation in network architectural design and development.
  • Complete understanding and active application the C.A.R.E. 4 Guide expectations and the Brand Communications Standards Accountability Philosophy.
  • Must be able and available to work a "hybrid" schedule, per business operations requirement, as needed.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Pay Scale: Min. $42.68 / Mid. $50.15 / Max $57.62* an hour
*Actual compensation will be based on geographical location, work experience, education and/or skill level.
