How much do hyperworks jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 4, 2026, the average yearly pay for hyperworks in the United States is $105,361.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $99,500.00 and $111,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a HyperWorks Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a HyperWorks Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, finite element analysis (FEA), and CAD modeling, usually supported by a relevant degree. Proficiency in the HyperWorks suite (including HyperMesh, OptiStruct, and HyperView) and a strong grasp of simulation software are essential, with certifications in FEA or CAE tools being advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication set exceptional engineers apart in this role. These skills ensure accurate simulations, optimized designs, and successful collaboration across engineering teams.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working with HyperWorks in collaborative engineering environments?

One common challenge for HyperWorks professionals is ensuring seamless integration of simulation data across multidisciplinary teams, as projects often involve input from design, engineering, and analysis experts. Coordinating model versions and simulation results can be complex, requiring strong communication and version control practices. Additionally, adapting to rapidly evolving project requirements means HyperWorks users must be flexible and proactive in learning new features and modules. Effective teamwork and a willingness to share knowledge are essential for overcoming these challenges and ensuring project success.

What are Hyperworks professionals?

Hyperworks professionals are experts in using Altair Hyperworks, a comprehensive computer-aided engineering (CAE) software platform. They specialize in tasks such as finite element analysis (FEA), multi-body dynamics, optimization, and simulation-driven design for industries like automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing. These professionals use Hyperworks tools to model, analyze, and optimize products to improve performance, reduce weight, and enhance durability. Their expertise helps companies accelerate product development cycles and achieve better engineering outcomes.

What is the difference between Hyperworks vs Finite Element Analyst?

Job description

Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated CAE Engineer with strong product design capabilities to perform structural analysis and contribute directly to the design of automotive aluminum castings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in both FEA simulation and the product development process, using industry-standard tools such as Altair HyperWorks, OptiStruct, nCode, FEMFAT, ABAQUS, and CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks). This role requires end-to-end involvement-from concept design and optimization to validation and reporting-ensuring performance, durability, and manufacturability of components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and optimize aluminum castings using CAD software, integrating functional performance, manufacturability, and process constraints.
• Develop and execute FEA simulations including static, dynamic, fatigue, and nonlinear analyses using tools such as HyperWorks, OptiStruct, and ABAQUS.
• Perform fatigue analysis using nCode or FEMFAT, including load spectrum processing and material fatigue curve development.
• Lead lightweighting and structural optimization initiatives using OptiStruct and related tools to meet performance and mass reduction targets.
• Interpret CAE results and translate findings into clear, actionable design recommendations to improve component performance and durability.
• Create detailed technical reports and visual presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, clearly communicating analysis methodology and results.
• Present simulation outcomes to cross-functional teams and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on design direction and technical decisions.
• Collaborate closely with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to support robust, end-to-end product development and validation.
• Occasional business travel to China and Mexico
Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in Manufacturing, Process, or Industrial Engineering position
• Knowledge and experience with AutoCad
• Experience in CAE/FEA analysis and product design. Preferably in automotive industry.
• Profinciency in Altair Hyperworks, OptiStruct, N-code/Femfat, and ABAQUS.
• Experience working in a global engineering environment.
• Experience writing procedures and work instructions
• Ability to create and deliver high quality technical documents and presentations
• Familiar with Quality Management Systems Standards such as IATF 16949
• Computer Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab, Visio, Project).
• Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software in use.
• Experience with industrial equipment
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English with all levels of the company
• Ability to understand and carry out complicated oral or written instructions
