This position provides technical leadership for site-wide hydrogeological activities and serves as a key advisor to mine planning, geotechnical engineering, operations, environmental, and processing teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for mine dewatering, groundwater management, and surface water management programs.
  • Develop and execute strategic dewatering plans aligned with short-, medium-, and long-range mine plans.
  • Lead the design, construction, and commissioning of dewatering wells, pumping systems, horizontal drains, piezometers, monitoring wells, and related infrastructure.
  • Lead weekly dewatering and water management meetings with cross-functional site stakeholders.
  • Develop, calibrate, and maintain groundwater flow models, water balance models, and predictive hydrogeological analyses to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and regulatory documentation that communicate findings, recommendations, and project status.
  • Manage hydrogeological consultants, drilling contractors, and service providers, including scope development, contractor oversight, and performance evaluation.
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets for hydrogeological programs, including drilling, monitoring systems, dewatering infrastructure, groundwater modeling, and consulting services.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior hydrogeologists, technicians, interns, and other site personnel.
  • Support permitting, regulatory compliance, and environmental reporting activities related to groundwater and surface water management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Advanced knowledge of groundwater hydrology, hydrogeology, mine dewatering, aquifer testing, and groundwater monitoring systems.
  • Strong understanding of the interaction between groundwater conditions, pit slope stability, and mine planning.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and managing dewatering systems in a mining environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with groundwater modeling software, water balance modeling tools, GIS platforms, and database management systems.
  • Strong understanding of well design, pumping systems, hydraulic testing, and groundwater monitoring instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, water rights, permitting requirements, and industry best practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Hydrology, Geological Engineering, or related discipline required.
  • Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Hydrology, or related field preferred.
  • Professional Geologist (PG), Registered Geologist (RG), or equivalent professional registration preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of progressively responsible hydrogeological experience, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading mine dewatering programs, groundwater investigations, and hydrogeological studies.
  • Experience with groundwater flow modeling and water balance development in a mining environment.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary technical projects.
  • Valid driver's license required.
