Overview

EP Design Services LLC (EPDS) is Edgewood's multi-disciplinary design firm providing architectural and engineering services.EPDS provides superior design in creating memorable and viable environments.

We're currently seeking an Civil Engineering CAD Designer Candidate will work full-time in our creative office located in Piscataway, NJ.

Position Summary

This role is for someone who takes pride in their craft. We're an integrated civil engineering and architecture team working on multi-family and commercial projects across New Jersey, and we're looking for a Civil Engineering CAD Designer who wants to be a meaningful contributor - not just a drafter. The right candidate thinks independently, stays sharp on local codes and zoning, and understands how every line they draw affects what actually gets built.

This is a hands-on environment where fast-paced and dynamic isn't just a phrase - it reflects how we actually operate. Projects move across all phases simultaneously, collaboration with in-house development and architecture teams is constant, and there's real opportunity for advancement for those who show up ready to grow. The manager leading this team is experienced, accessible, and invested in developing the people around them.

ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities

CAD Production & Technical Drafting

  • Produce commercial and residential site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including geometry plan layouts, utility plans and profiles, grading and drainage plans with profiles and cross sections, and roadway plans and profiles.
  • Prepare sketches and exhibits as needed to support project communication and approvals.
  • Use GIS software to obtain required site imagery and incorporate it into project drawings.
  • Apply third-party applications (Auto-TURN, Photoshop, etc.) to generate drawings based on specific project requirements.
  • Prepare NJDOT and NJDEP permitting plan sets.

Design Contributions

  • Prepare concept drawings based on ownership's development objectives and due diligence conclusions, including concept plan layout and drafting.
  • Support design of utility systems including stormwater runoff and conveyance, sanitary sewer collection, and water distribution.
  • Contribute to Soil Erosion and Sediment Control design, including stability calculations, Best Management Practices, swale and spillway design, and construction sequencing.
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred; associate's degree with demonstrated civil design and drafting experience considered.
  • 1-3 years of commercial and residential site design and permitting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Working knowledge of NJ Residential Site Improvement Standards (RSIS) preferred.
  • Foundation and geotechnical experience and understanding.
  • Proficiency in drainage software including StormCAD, Hydroflow, and HydroCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.
  • Self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent written and verbal communication
