Job Title: Hydraulic TechnicianJob Description

This role focuses on assembling, installing, and testing hydraulic systems that bring vehicle-mounted aerial lift units and related equipment into full operational status. You will interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical diagrams to install hydraulic and related electrical components accurately and safely. The position is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who takes pride in clean, precise hydraulic installations and who ensures every system meets exact specifications for safety, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals to understand system layouts and installation requirements.
  • Install hydraulic components, including PTOs, pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators, reservoirs, filters, hoses, and fittings in accordance with schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Fabricate and install mounting hardware and custom brackets to securely support hydraulic components on vehicle-mounted equipment.
  • Assemble and route hydraulic hoses, ensuring all fittings and connections meet cleanliness, torque, and quality standards.
  • Perform system start-up procedures, including pressure testing and flow verification, to confirm proper operation of hydraulic systems.
  • Set relief valves and flow rates using gauges and flow meters to ensure systems operate within specified parameters.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic issues during installation and testing phases, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Document findings and corrective actions related to hydraulic issues to support continuous improvement and future diagnostics.
  • Install related electrical components, including 12-volt valve wiring and 120/240-volt generator and outlet connections, in alignment with engineering requirements.
  • Ensure all work complies with internal specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and customer requirements for safety and performance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including timecards, installation logs, test results, and any required records related to system setup and testing.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance installation processes, improve hydraulic designs, and increase overall efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with company safety policies and best practices.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and stability testing to verify that units meet operational and safety standards.
  • Support field service activities as needed by helping resolve hydraulic and system-related issues on units already in service.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, and other departments to ensure projects are completed on time and to the required quality standards.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience in hydraulic system installation or equivalent technical training.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Strong general mechanical capability and proven troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency using a wide variety of hand and power tools, including electric and pneumatic tools.
  • Experience operating overhead cranes, jacks, and forklifts in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Comfort working in and around large truck chassis, including the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and crawl under equipment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed to meet production and project timelines.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferred: CDL Class B license or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with hydraulic installation in vehicle-mounted or mobile equipment applications.
  • Familiarity with pressure testing, flow verification, and setting relief valves and flow rates using gauges and flow meters.
  • Exposure to installing related electrical components such as 12-volt valve wiring and 120/240-volt generator and outlet connections.
  • Background in manufacturing, heavy equipment, or similar technical environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, precise hydraulic installations.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waco, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
