Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor

Classification: Non-Exempt


Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs technical and mechanical functions as assigned for the purpose of operating the property in a manner consistent with maximum efficiency, cost effectiveness, and service to the client and its occupants. This individual will maintain a high level of professionalism in addressing facility management issues including response to and resolution of any client requests or concerns.


Essential Functions:

  • Electrical: Repair and maintain lighting fixtures, ballasts, and circuit switches
  • Electrical: Repair, replace and/or maintain 115V convenience outlets and circuits
  • Electronic systems (Fire alarm, security, timers): Ability to operate and perform tests
  • Plumbing: Replace or repair flush valve on toilets and keep properly maintained
  • Plumbing: Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on all plumbing issues throughout facility including roof drains, storm and sewer drains, faucets, valves, water filters, etc.
  • Plumbing: Clear drainage/sewage stoppages using appropriate equipment and methods
  • Plumbing: Locate and exercise isolation and shut off valves
  • Carpentry: Repair and assemble furniture
  • Carpentry: Perform wall patching
  • Carpentry: Install or repair ceramic wall tile
  • Carpentry: Make repairs to roofing materials
  • Flooring: Make repairs to ceramic, vinyl tile floors
  • HVAC: Operate HVAC systems and controls

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial buildings, educational environments, correctional facilities and/or health care facilities
  • Perform at a skilled level for at least 2 of the following: electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, painting and/or general maintenance and at least semi-skilled for the others
  • Fluent in English language to speak, read and write clearly
  • Valid driver’s license

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with normal working hours Monday through Friday, working 40 hours per week. However, as business needs become necessary, after-hours, holidays, or weekends may be required.

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions.
