The Opportunity

Conditioned Air Systems is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Manager to lead the daily performance of our residential and commercial HVAC Service Department.


This is a hands-on leadership position for an HVAC professional who understands both the technical and operational sides of the service business. You will lead and develop service technicians, coordinate closely with dispatch, oversee service quality, monitor departmental profitability, and ensure customers receive the level of service our company expects.


We're looking for a proven HVAC leader who can develop technicians, solve difficult field problems, improve productivity, and take ownership of department performance. How You Will Make an Impact

  • Service Operations & Technical Leadership
  • Direct the daily operations of the HVAC Service Department and coordinate technician workloads with dispatch
  • Schedule and assign technicians based on skill level, efficiency, training needs, and customer requirements
  • Provide technical support for HVAC troubleshooting, repair, installation, start-up, commissioning, and preventive maintenance
  • Review completed work to ensure technicians consistently meet company quality and safety standards
  • Assist technicians with complex HVAC and refrigeration troubleshooting when field support is required
  • Monitor job progress, estimated completion times, labor hours, parts, and material usage
  • Ensure required parts and materials are ordered promptly to keep service and project commitments on schedule
  • Manage larger HVAC installation, start-up, and commissioning projects when required
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop HVAC service technicians based on departmental needs
  • Conduct performance reviews and establish clear goals for technician development and improvement
  • Lead regular team meetings, safety discussions, technical training, and one-on-one coaching
  • Develop and maintain ongoing training programs covering current equipment, service techniques, troubleshooting, and safety procedures
  • Coordinate OEM and factory training to keep technicians current on equipment and technology
  • Maintain technician training records and promote continuous professional development
  • Build a culture centered around craftsmanship, accountability, safety, productivity, and customer service
  • Customer Service & Department Performance
  • Serve as a senior company representative when communicating with customers, vendors, suppliers, and factory representatives
  • Resolve customer concerns and service issues professionally and efficiently
  • Develop and monitor departmental budgets, goals, productivity, and profitability
  • Review work orders, invoices, and technician time reports for accuracy and timely billing
  • Support healthy cash flow by ensuring service documentation and invoicing are completed promptly
  • Generate service opportunities and support the development of maintenance and service agreements
  • Estimate and prepare bids for service contracts and related project work
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the overall service experience
  • Fleet, Inventory & Compliance
  • Oversee assigned service vehicles and ensure they are properly maintained, organized, and operated according to company policy
  • Monitor truck inventory to ensure technicians have appropriate parts, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain communication with manufacturers and vendors regarding warranties, recalls, equipment failures, and product issues
  • Ensure technicians follow company policies, safety procedures, and applicable HVAC codes and requirements
  • Stay current on industry developments, equipment changes, OEM requirements, and service best practices


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of HVAC management, service leadership, or closely related HVAC industry experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of residential and commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing HVAC service technicians
  • Ability to diagnose complex HVAC problems and provide technical direction to field personnel
  • Ability to read and interpret HVAC manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and control circuits
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance, equipment start-up, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning
  • Working knowledge of applicable HVAC codes and industry standards
  • Strong customer service, sales, and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Experience managing departmental productivity, budgets, and profitability
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general business software
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, or holidays when business or emergency service needs require


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Technical education through a trade school, college, military program, or equivalent professional training
  • Previous experience managing both residential and commercial HVAC service operations
  • Experience developing maintenance agreements and identifying service sales opportunities
  • Experience managing large HVAC installation, start-up, or commissioning projects
  • OEM or manufacturer-specific HVAC training and certifications
  • Experience recruiting and building high-performing HVAC service teams
