Job Description:

The HVACR Technician will be responsible for servicing, repair, and preventative maintenance on all HVACR systems.  The individual will maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment including the operations of industrial boilers, an ammonia-based cooling system, and HVACR equipment for a large production facility, engineering labs, and office areas.  The individual should have a strong background with troubleshooting equipment and some knowledge of HVAC automation systems.  

Essential Functions:

  • Knowledge of HVAC fan coil units with the ability to clean, drain, and repair coils, steam, and cold water lines
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair small cabinet coolers for electronic equipment cabinets, 1.5 to 5 ton chillers, multi-stack chillers, and water cooled condensers
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance for hot water and steam boilers including the install or repair of piping
  • Perform and log maintenance on two 8 million BTU gas and oil-fired steam boilers and the corresponding steam coils, steam traps, steam control valves, and return condensate systems
  • Oversee operation of modulating gas train systems to troubleshoot issues for critical production equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair high-pressure humidification systems and direct fire make up air units
  • Understand the basic principles of troubleshooting and be proficient at reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams used for troubleshooting as related to HVACR equipment
  • Knowledge of and basic skills to fix, repair and align water pumps, pump seals, and coupler replacement
  • Diagnostics of electrical and electronic controlled systems with a service background in HVAC controls and valve operation
  • Requires to be “on call”, provide HVACR technical assistance for a 24-hour operational environment, ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary
  • Independent and organized work style: effectively manage time and prioritize workload, adapt to change and consistently meet deadlines, respond quickly to emergency situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, good listening skills, team player who demonstrates the ability to relate in a professional manner to employees and vendors at all levels of the business
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of PLC’s and facility software for building automation systems (i-Vu used in our facility)
  • Physically able to kneel, climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and lift 50 lbs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • HVAC journeyman or equivalent preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with operating and/or maintenance of Industrial HVAC-Refrigeration
  • Power Engineers 3rd Class Facility Operator Engineer License or the ability to obtain same or equivalent within 1 year of employment
  • Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator Level 1 (CIRO) or ability to obtain same or equivalent within 1 year of employment
  • EPA 608 Technician Certification (universal) or ability to obtain same or equivalent within 1 year of employment
  • Experience working with commercial/industrial Gas Train control systems and troubleshooting VAV systems
  • Valid Driver’s License
