An HVAC AutoCAD Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and schematics for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems using AutoCAD software. They work closely with engineers and project managers to develop accurate designs that meet industry standards and project specifications. Their role includes modifying existing drawings, ensuring proper dimensions and annotations, and collaborating with construction teams to ensure successful installations.
As an HVAC AutoCAD Draftsman, your typical day involves creating and revising detailed drawings of HVAC system layouts, coordinating with engineers and project managers, and ensuring that all designs meet project specifications and building codes. You may attend meetings to discuss project requirements or resolve design challenges, and you’ll regularly communicate with other team members to ensure your drawings align with architectural and structural plans. Most of the work is done at a workstation using AutoCAD or similar drafting software. Staying organized and proactive in managing multiple projects and deadlines is also a key part of the daily routine.
To thrive as an HVAC AutoCAD Draftsman, you need solid knowledge of HVAC systems, proficiency in AutoCAD software, and typically at least a diploma or associate's degree in mechanical drafting or engineering.
