The Senior Technician, Refrigeration/HVAC - CRE, leads and supports HVAC/R teams by coordinating maintenance, repairs, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role ensures the efficient operation of refrigeration and HVAC systems through troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and quality inspections. The position involves managing resources, overseeing special projects, and fostering collaboration with internal teams and external partners. The technician also provides training and evaluates skill development while promoting safety, integrity, and continuous improvement to support Walmart’s operational excellence and sustainability goals.

What you'll do:
  • Lead HVAC/R teams by coordinating work assignments and providing guidance to ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC industry regulations through inspections, repairs, and refrigerant management.
  • Manage preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC/R, EMS, and control equipment to maintain operational standards.
  • Evaluate new technologies and implement improvements to optimize system performance and energy management.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure resource availability and contract compliance.
  • Provide training and support to technicians, fostering skill development and adherence to safety protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current EPA license OR the ability to obtain one
  • Vocational or Technical Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) certification and 2 years experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls OR 4 years experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field. Type I/Type II Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification for Refrigerant handling
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures

The hourly wage range for this position is $26.00 - $51.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
