Job description

Position Summary:

Maintains the property and facilities of all HVA facilities in a manner to assure the health and safety of volunteers,

clients and staff. Responsible for ensuring the timely maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and

systems, to ensure maximum safety and quality of all equipment used, while supporting the policies, goals and

objectives of HVA.

Education/Training (or equivalent): 1 H.S. Degree 0 College Degree* 0 Certification/License*

Experience: (Type of work experience, min. number of years):

One-year experience working in a similar position

Technical or Administrative Knowledge:

Safety logs and record keeping; Internet; operates power tools, lawn equipment, stripper and buffer.

Special Skills and Abilities and/or:

Valid driver’s license. Ability to work in volunteer based program; work with vendors in a professional manner.

Job Functions, Unique Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

General

• Follow the administrative guidelines and policies established by HVA.

• Maintain a community image consistent with the HVA mission.

• Engage in a relationship with the HVA team, which is proactive, mutually beneficial, fosters teamwork, and advances the mission of HVA.

• Exercise due care and stewardship of resources which are given to HVA including equipment, food, money, and volunteer and staff time.

• Oversee the general physical environment for health, safety, and proper maintenance of facilities.

Maintenance

• 50% Performs all phases of maintenance work involving carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, etc., and works independently in assigned areas as instructed.

• 14% Performs janitorial duties, including general clean-up work around the sites. Janitorial duties may include, and are not limited to, picking up trash on grounds, hand weed removal, waxing of floors, cleaning of restroom facilities, and the emptying of trash.

• 5% May perform lawn maintenance duties in the absence of lawn care contractor.

• 5% Maintains machinery and tools to prolong their usability in order to maintain high efficiency and reduce maintenance costs.

• 10% Adheres to the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance staff.

• 10% Acts as the point of contact for vendors performing repair work at the property.

Program Support

• 1% Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and reorders/purchases when necessary.

• 1% Updates the Work Order Requests spreadsheet and communicates with all program directors to ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner with quality and integrity.

Community Relations

• 1% Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the community to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities.

• 1% Assist in planning and coordinating events meant to raise funds (sanctioned events, community events, etc).

• 1% Provide staff support at events, as needed.

Advancement/Community Relations:
