Quality Engineer I
Galvion | Newport, VT
Full-Time | Salaried/Exempt | 40 Hours/Week

Galvion is seeking a motivated Quality Engineer I to join our Quality team within the Armor business unit. This role is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working cross-functionally, and driving improvements in product and process quality.
As a Quality Engineer I, you will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and supplier partners to ensure products and manufacturing processes meet established quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement control plans for supplied components and manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate FAI and LAT testing with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Support supplied-part approvals and new product stage-gate requirements.
  • Manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) from initiation through closure.
  • Lead and support root-cause analysis, CAPA, and 8D problem-solving activities.
  • Participate in ISO 9001 supplier quality audits and maintain supplier performance scorecards.
  • Analyze quality data using capability studies, control charts, and Gauge R&R.
  • Support containment and disposition of nonconforming materials through MRB and RMA processes.
  • Drive timely audit and CAPA closure while improving customer PPM and first-pass yield.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Internship, co-op, project, or manufacturing experience; quality experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred experience: 8D/RCA, ISO 9001 auditing, Minitab or other statistical software, ERP systems, injection molding, textiles, pattern making, or cut-and-sew manufacturing.
Work Environment
This position works in both office and manufacturing environments and requires travel to supplier locations, including
potential international travel. Safety protocols and PPE requirements must be followed at Galvion and supplier facilities.
