Job description

Position Summary

The Injection Molding Technician is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of injection molding equipment by performing machine setup assistance, troubleshooting equipment issues, monitoring production, and conducting preventive maintenance. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve equipment and process issues to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. We have multiple positions open on 2nd shift (3pm to 11pm) and 3rd shift (11pm to 7am).

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain injection molding machines to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and auxiliary equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform machine startups, shutdowns, and process verification following established procedures.
  • Assist with mold changes, machine setups, and equipment adjustments.
  • Install, connect, and verify auxiliary equipment including dryers, temperature controllers, conveyors, robots, and material handling systems.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on molding machines, molds, and support equipment.
  • Identify equipment wear, mechanical issues, or process abnormalities and recommend corrective actions.
  • Work with production operators to resolve quality concerns and improve efficiency.
  • Inspect molded parts to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Record process parameters, maintenance activities, downtime, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in optimizing cycle times, reducing scrap, and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Follow all company safety policies, quality standards, and operating procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional production activities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school certification or associate degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in injection molding, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or a similar production environment preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot machinery and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience using hand and power tools safely.
  • Ability to read work instructions, equipment manuals, and basic mechanical drawings.
  • Basic computer skills for documenting production and maintenance activities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds; heavier lifting with assistance or lifting equipment.
  • Ability to bend, climb, kneel, reach, and work around industrial machinery.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with heat, noise, moving equipment, and industrial machinery.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing facility operating injection molding equipment and automated production systems.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.
  • Overtime, weekends, or shift work may be required to support production schedules.
