Job description

Scope of Position:

Auger Fabrication is a leading supplier in replacement augers and tooling. We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist with strong manual machining experience. This role is ideal for a candidate who not only understands CNC programming, setup, and operation, but also possesses the hands-on ability to machine parts manually using lathes, mills, and other conventional tools when needed.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
  • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three-and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushes; indicating vices; trimming heads
  • Perform manual machining operations on lathes, mills, and other equipment to complete or modify parts as required.
  • Preparing and loading raw materials and parts onto machine.
  • Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to international standards. Preparing a test run to check if the machine produces outputs according to specifications.
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result. Detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintaining safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process had been completed properly.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Completes productions and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Competencies:

  • Strong manual machining experience - must be able to machine a part by hand when necessary.

Work Environment:

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Some overtime required as business needs dictate.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist.
  • Experience with a Hurco CNC Milling Machine a huge plus.
