Journeyman CNC Mill Operator

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman CNC Mill Operator to join our precision manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating Mazak AJV, Mazak VTC, and Hurco CNC mills, with a focus on producing high-quality parts efficiently and safely. This role involves setup, programming, operation, and maintenance of milling equipment to meet production schedules and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Mazak AJV, Mazak VTC, and Hurco CNC milling machines for complex parts production.
  • Load and unload raw materials, tools, and fixtures; perform tool changes and offsets as needed.
  • Program, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code, Mazatrol (for Mazak machines), and Hurco WinMax controls.
  • Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, gauge blocks and pins ect.) to ensure conformance to blueprints, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality control to resolve production issues and improve processes.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, PPE usage, and OSHA regulations.
  • Meet daily production quotas while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Journeyman certification or equivalent experience (5+ years) in CNC milling operations.
  • Proven proficiency with Mazak AJV, Mazak VTC, and Hurco CNC mills.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming (G-code/Mazatrol/WinMax), blueprint reading.
  • Ability to work from verbal instructions, sketches, or engineering drawings.
  • High school diploma or GED; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and handle tools in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Mastercam or similar CAM software.
  • Familiarity with additional CNC equipment or multi-axis machining.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
