Position Summary... What you'll do...Role summary:
The Senior Manager of New Brand Discovery & Acquisition sits at the front edge of what’s next for Walmart, identifying the brands, founders, and ideas that could shape tomorrow’s basket. This role owns the new-to-Walmart pipeline, turning merchant priorities into a proactive hunt for high-potential brands across categories. They build relationships with founders, investors, and accelerators, scout the places where new brands are breaking, and turn early signals into sharp recommendations for merchants and leadership. Part strategist, part scout, part relationship-builder, this person helps Walmart find great brands earlier and gives them a clear path from discovery to scale.

The Discovery & Emerging Brands team within Supplier Excellence focuses on identifying promising brands early to support Walmart’s growth. Collaborating across Merchandising, Marketplace, Finance, and other teams, the group transforms early market signals into actionable insights. This enables faster, informed decisions that strengthen Walmart’s assortment and supplier partnerships. The team emphasizes data-driven analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic communication to deliver impactful business strategies. Their goal is to discover opportunities swiftly and provide merchants with the information needed to act confidently, driving scalable business success for Walmart.
What you'll do:
Build the Emerging Brands intelligence engine – Build the systems, tools, and signals that help Walmart spot the next breakout brands earlier and act faster. Build the brand evaluation system across growth, demand, differentiation, readiness, and Walmart opportunity. Connect the signals across sales, search, social, Marketplace, DTC, competitive retail, investors, and customer insights. Work cross-functionally with merchants, Supplier Excellence, Marketplace, WMC, data, and insights teams to identify whitespace and priority bets. Turn data into action with sharp business cases, recommendations, and leadership storytelling. Build for scale by improving the tools, reporting, and automation behind the work.
What you'll bring:
A commercial builder with strong instincts for brand, category, and customer potential. You know how to spot what is next, understand why it matters, and build the case for Walmart to move early. You are equally comfortable evaluating a founder’s pitch, working a trade show floor, digging into data, and turning messy signals into sharp recommendations. You balance instinct with evidence and understand customer demand, retail economics, and operational readiness. You build trust with founders, investors, merchants, and cross-functional partners while keeping a high-volume pipeline moving. Strong project management, storytelling, prioritization, and zero-to-one building skills are essential. The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
