Position Summary: The Manager, EHS performs a variety of functions to assist in maintaining and preserving the health and safety of employees as well as the environment for the assigned locations. This individual is responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of existing systems related to plant safety, process safety management, environmental control processes, regulatory compliance, and training. This individual must have a customer-focused work ethic and is able to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage annual testing requirements including audiograms, blood lead/ZPP, DOT, PIT, and Respiratory Protection requirements.
  • Manage all environmental management and compliance programs such as air emissions, Stormwater discharges, SPCC and tank compliance in accordance with local, state, federal rules, and company policies. Manage hazardous waste compliance in accordance with RCRA and state regulations. Ensure compliance with DOD 4145.26-M Contractors Safety Manual for Ammunition and Explosives and leads Defense Contract Management Agency inspections. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal EHS regulations.
  • Ensure that all EHS inspections are performed and documented.
  • Lead Workers' Compensation administration duties for locations including claim reporting, injury investigation, and claim management.
  • Submit and navigate purchasing and work order software.
  • Provide, manage, and ensure tracking of safety training as required including lead awareness, respiratory protection, safety orientation, LO/TO, hearing conservation, PIT, and bloodborne pathogens.
  • May be facility coordinator. Must be able to respond to all events within 1 hour of notification.
  • Lead and coach EHS team members to ensure success.
  • Coach all other SIG team members from an EHS perspective.
  • Listen to the needs of employees, ensuring that all employees within the team have the tools or resources necessary to be successful.
  • Develop the workgroup as a team, fostering a team environment of problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor employees in a way that fosters two-way communication and will develop a best-in-class team.
  • Engage in the performance management process, providing clear, timely, and constructive feedback to employees.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is in place for employment related concerns.
  • Coordinate team training and development opportunities as needs are identified. Provide opportunities to grow the teamโ€™s skillset and talents.
  • Coach and mentor employees in a way that fosters two-way communication and will develop a best-in-class team.
  • Engage in the performance management process, providing clear, timely, and constructive feedback to employees.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation is in place for employment related concerns.
  • Communicate effectively to senior leadership regarding problems and propose corrective action.
  • May lead and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
  • Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position. Must have the ability to travel to all assigned locations.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance when needed for both personal space and multi-use department spaces.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in EHS or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 7+ years of experience in the EHS field and prior people leadership experience.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Health and Safety Manager (CHSM) preferred.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel. Ability to learn applicable software such as EHS, Purchasing, Document Control software, etc.
  • Must be results-driven with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Able to operate independently at a high level and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas or in job hazard analysis.
