Job Description
Starting a career as a driving instructor in Texas means shaping safer roads one student at a time. For our Humble, TX location, we're looking for patient, safety-focused instructors who can deliver high-quality training to teens and adults in a supportive, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Safe Driving Skills - Provide hands-on instruction in safe, lawful driving techniques, including Texas traffic laws, vehicle control, and defensive driving strategies.
  • Coach Students of All Levels - Adapt your teaching style to support nervous beginners, confident teens, and adult learners returning to driving.
  • Ensure Safety at All Times - Maintain full awareness of surroundings, anticipate hazards, and use instructor controls when necessary to keep students and the community safe.
  • Track Student Progress - Document performance, provide clear and constructive feedback, and prepare students for their Texas DPS road test.
  • Maintain Professionalism - Create a calm, positive, and focused learning environment inside the vehicle, modeling the behavior we expect from safe drivers.
  • Stay Updated on Regulations - Remain knowledgeable about Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) driving requirements, licensing rules, and state traffic law updates.

Requirements
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Texas Driver License with at least 3 consecutive years of issuance in Texas
  • Clean driving record - No suspensions, no DUI/DWI, and no serious moving violations within the last 3 years
  • Minimum age: 21 years old
  • Social Security Number (required for TDLR background check and fingerprinting)
  • High School Diploma, GED, transcripts, or proof of higher education
  • Ability to pass a national criminal background check (TDLR requirement)
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Texas Driving Instructor License
    • Completion of a TDLR-approved instructor training program
    • Passing required instructor exams
    • Submission of application and fees to TDLR

Preferred (Not Required)
  • Previous driving instruction or teaching experience
  • Customer-service or coaching background
  • Experience working with teens, adults, or nervous beginners
