The Senior Process Improvement Professional analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing business processes and develops sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements. The Senior Process Improvement Professional work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
The Humana Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) Strategy Enablement team partners with PBM teams to improve processes that will help our members improve their lives through better health outcomes. This role, within the Process Improvement (PI) team of Strategy Enablement, will work closely with PBM leaders, as well as key partners in leading and delivering on initiatives and process capabilities that enable improved effectiveness, efficiency, and experiences (member, provider and associate).
The Senior Process Improvement Professional:
  • Researches best business practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data.
  • Defines and leads business improvement projects aligned with business strategies and operational priorities.
  • Collects and analyzes process data to initiate, develop and recommend business practices and procedures that focus on member experience, increased productivity and efficiency and reduced cost.
  • Determines how new information technologies can support re-engineering business processes.
  • May specialize in one or more of the following areas: benchmarking, business process analysis and re-engineering, change management and measurement, and/or process-driven systems requirements.
  • Begins to influence department's strategy.
  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

As Senior Process Improvement Professional for continuous improvement within Humana Pharmacy, you will: design, implement, and improve business processes across designated areas of responsibility to help enhance business outcomes, directly impacting cost, quality and member experience.
Use your skills to make an impact
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and deliver a portfolio of process improvement projects that collectively achieve quantifiable annual cost savings targets.
  • Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing business processes, taking into consideration industry benchmarks and overarching business strategy, to determine areas of focus for process improvements.
  • Partner with operations leadership to define and quantify initiatives to improve cost per, quality, and outcomes measures, driving cost reduction balanced with quality improvements.
  • Influence leadership and cross-functional partners without formal authority through data-driven insights and compelling storytelling.
  • Develop projects through the DMAIC, PDCA, Kaizen, or other standard process improvement methodologies (whichever best benefits the business), while identifying potential project risks.
  • Deliver quantifiable results, making technical decisions and escalating issues, with minimal supervision.
  • Monitor project performance metrics to ensure that organization objectives in the areas of cost, efficiency, and quality are met.
  • Accurately validate and report financial impact (hard savings, soft savings, etc.) of all initiatives.
  • Indirectly lead cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are obtained and sustained.

Required Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering, continuous improvement, or operations management.
  • Demonstrated success in the planning and implementation of across-the-board process improvement initiatives, including both tactical and strategic-level projects.
  • Proven Change Agent, with demonstrated abilities and successes in influencing and motivating at multiple of an organization.
  • Proven ability to think analytically, apply analytical techniques, and provide in-depth analysis of technical process, business process, or raw data and recommendations to management using critical thinking and sound judgment.
  • Expertise in Project Management, Program Management, Problem Solving, and Issues Mitigation.
  • Proficiency in developing and interpreting financial measures associated with process improvement, cost modeling, and forecasting.
  • Ability to integrate into and thrive as a member of a virtual team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master Black Belt certification.
  • Direct experience within Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM).

Work at Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested. In certain roles, the minimum recommended internet speed required by Humana may not be sufficient for business needs. Humana reserves the right to require associates to upgrade their internet service if necessary. Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$78,400 - $107,800 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
